Insomnia is distinguished by a sleep disorders and or to remain asleep for a reasonable period. Behavior patterns like smoking, alcohol, caffeine, shift work and medications sometimes contribute to chronic insomnia.

Anyhow a holistic management is required chronic insomnia treatment. Health professionals can provide the help and guide, but it is important that the patient is the one who should manage the condition. Patient should treat the underlying physical or mental disorder first. These treatments include modifying life style habits; creating a correct environment for sleeping; mild aerobics exercises; snacks before bedtime containing tryptophan found in milk, figs, bananas, dates and tuna; avoiding foods containing tyramine and medically supervised drug therapy.

You can also implement other methods like relaxation therapy, hypnotism, yoga, meditation, music and aromatherapy, recondition therapy, and sleep restriction therapy and cognitive behavior therapy, which leads the exact perception of the patient of sleep disorder.

However the proper management is required for chronic insomnia otherwise it will lead to many serious consequences. Driving and handling machinery becomes dangerous, as sluggishness and dizziness are common among insomniacs. Patients experience problems at work because of poor performance, low energy level and lack of concentration. Don’t worry Chronic insomnia is often a curable disease. Early diagnosis and proper medication will help for speedy recovery.
